Meet the Founder

A native of Colorado Springs, CO, Marilyn’s journey took her to the Baltimore/DC area, where she trained in various ecosystems of health, as a RN working in trauma critical care and various other specialties for 27 years, She became a licensed Esthetician and Spa Therapist, founding Special Care Wellness Spa and a Retreat Center in Maryland. The spa provided innovation treatments, holistic health and wellness education, trauma informed services and spiritual care. She is a empathetic dedicated professional in mental health, wellness, spiritual care, and formation.  Marlyn has now returned to the serene mountain setting of Colorado Springs. With over 30 years of experience in the health, beauty, and spiritual wellness fields, she blends her RN nursing background and experience as a wellness spa owner with her passion for holistic healing and spiritual care and formation for BIPOC individuals and communities. As an ordained Evangelist, Marilyn has more than 15 years of ministry experience, including a chaplaincy internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. where she was involved in community outreach projects; Caring for the City, Medical Religious Partnership, Health Advocacy educator in the Baltimore community. She has hosted workshops in prisons, schools, universities, churches, and retreats, offering guidance and support through her innovative “Create Your Beautiful Life” workshop series, which includes GodisCare spa self-care techniques. Her expertise spans health and wellness coaching, skin care and spa therapy   consulting, and trauma-informed healing, making her a true pioneer in fostering well-being, spiritual growth, and healing through a multidisciplinary approach.  

Currently, Marilyn serves as Community Coordinator for Hey Neighbor, a nonprofit that helps neighborhood leaders host creative events to connect, build relationships, and create vibrant communities. She is also a Board Member of the Trails and Open Space Coalition (TOSC), working to preserve and expand open spaces and trails, a member of the Pikes Peak Council on Aging Social Engagement Committee, and a member of Elevating Black Leadership (EBL) with the El Pomar Foundation. In addition, she serves as an Evangelist at Remnant International Ministry.  

In her free time, Marilyn enjoys fishing, hiking, camping, everything outdoors! Her greatest passion is spending time with her great-grandchildren Liam and Aaliyah.
